- Birthplace:
- Haddam, Connecticut. Birthplace of the famous missionary David Brainerd.
- Education:
- BA in History from Princeton University. Masters in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary
- First Job:
- Arts & Crafts Counselor
- Family Ties:
- Married to the unparalleled Graham Hunt for sixteen years. I have two precious sons: Alden, age ten and Calvin, age six. We also support Shania in Indonesia through Compassion International.
- Hobbies/Interests:
- Reading on spiritual disciplines, cultural trends and worldviews, discipleship, strength training, walking, napping, online research and shopping, poetry, and interior design.
- Guilty Pleasure:
- Isn't this an oxymoron? Okay, judging by how the rest have answered, I'd say ALDI's fresh salsa and créme brulé.
- Favorite TV shows/Movies:
- I avoid TV. My favorite recent musical: Wicked. All-Time Favorite Movies: The Jerk, Babe, Les Miserables, Princess Bride. More recently: Lives of Others, Becoming Jane, and Once.
- Pets:
- My landlord doesn't allow pets and I've got allergies anyway, so I got my kids a fish lamp with these fish that swim around and around and around. I did have a wonderful Shitzhu, Mandi, growing up.
- Favorite Artist/Song:
- All the "Seeds of Faith" scripture memory cd's, plus just about everything by Sara Groves, Rich Mullins or Keith Green, anything featured on Prairie Home Companion and last but not least, the hymn "Jesus, I am Resting" (newer melody).
- How did you end up working at the Q?
- I know Paula (Accounting) from a small group we are in together. She used hypnosis on me during our prayer time one night, I think.
- Favorite Bible Passage:
- "Do everything in love." - I Corinthians 16:14
- My prayer for Q-90:
- That we will honor the Lord in everything we do, trust him completely, see many lives changed for Christ as a result of our obedience and that one day, prior to heaven, we will be able to move out of a basement and into a place with some windows. Pretty please?
- If you could add or change one thing to the Green Bay area, what would it be?
- Why stop with one? A Christian Center for the Arts. Some medieval architecture. A classical charter school. A library open at least until midnight. Better yet, bring the whole east coast here, minus the high cost of living, traffic and cynicism, so I'd be closer to my extended family.
- Who did you want to be like when you were growing up?
- My Dad. He was/is an OB/GYN who also draws neat cartoons and plays the guitar. I decided I wanted to go to his alma mater when I was in kindergarten and eventually did.
- If you could meet one person past, present or future who would it be and why?
- Sigrid Undset, assuming I could also speak her native tongue. Kristin Lavransdatter is a Scandinavian trilogy set in the Middle Ages for which Undset won the Nobel prize in literature in 1928. It truly makes one feel as if one has lived Kristin's life. I love Undset's realistic and yet redemptive view of relationships. Anyone that perceptive about people and spirituality would be a delight to meet.
- If you were granted one wish, what would it be and why?
- That I could take year off to travel around the world with my family. I have friends who serve as missionaries on every continent (okay, not Antarctica), and I would love to visit them, both to encourage them and see what the world is like. (Well, that, and be able to grow a successful vegetable garden just once.)
- What was the last book you read?
- I won't mention the last one, but the second to last was collection of short stories by George MacDonald called, "The Gifts for the Child Christ." I read it on vacation while the rest of the family was watching "American Idol" and "Star Wars" respectively.
- If you could ask one question, what would it be, and how would you answer it?
- Q: What is your passion? A: To see the every Christ-follower fully realize God's gifts to them and in turn put their gifts to fullest use for His glory.
- If you could spend a whole day with somebody famous, who would it be?
- I used to say Sara Groves, but I got to serve her troupe lunch last winter, so now I have to pick someone else. I guess I would have to say I would enjoy an uninterrupted day with a successful homeschooling mother. But that's about as unlikely as a day with someone famous; what homeschooling mother is ever uninterrupted? I would want her to come to my home and show me how to improve its management.
- What's your favorite candy and soda?
- Cadbury cream eggs. Not a big soda gal, but if pressed, I'd say ginger ale with juice.
