Birthplace:
Daytona Beach, Florida
Education:
BA Classical Studies - Latin and BS Ed from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Also got 13 hrs grad school in Latin & Classics while I taught Latin I & II to undergrads (yes, I was one of those dreaded TAs). My high school was the perpetual State Football Champion, Jeff City High (Jefferson City, MO)
Family Ties:
Mike (yes, THAT Mike) who's the best husband in the world, stepkids Matt & Andrea, and "mommy's little boy" Cliff. Mom and my sister Cathy & her family are back in Missouri (that's where the "twang" comes from).
Hobbies/Interests:
TRAVEL, TRAVEL, TRAVEL. Did I mention I like to travel? Especially when it includes COMPLETELY UNINTERRUPTED time with my hubby. And DANCING!!! Mike actually indulged me with some Ballroom lessons-our "niche" seems to be swing, cha-cha and rumba, but we do a decent waltz. The foxtrot can be a bit of a trainwreck (or a wrestling match). And I love Middle Eastern Dance but I've only had one class so far, so I'm not that good at it (although Mike strongly disagrees with that statement). Also love to worship, with a peculiar gift for harmonies, and I love to read, but it seems that's one of those things I never quite get around to.ditto for photography.
Guilty Pleasure:
Shopping-if it were an Olympic sport, I'd be a world-class gold medalist.
Favorite TV shows/Movies:
TV: Jeopardy, any show with a form of "Dance" in the title, any Star Trek (except Deep Space Nine) and Criminal Minds. Also addicted to The Closer, Monk & Meerkat Manor when they are on. Movies: The Quiet Man, which is the best John Wayne movie EVER, Ben Hur, The Best Years of Our Lives, Holiday Inn, Lord of the Rings (LOTR).and for pure yuks, Young Frankenstein & Galaxy Quest.
Pets:
A very "emotionally needy" orange tabby cat named Cliff-he's so obsessed with "mommy", he gets bulimic when I pack a suitcase and leave for a trip.
Favorite Band/Artist/Song:
Anything from Pillar. I get my Celtic fix with The Chieftains "Bells of Dublin". For worship, you can't beat Third Day's first "Offerings", Chris Tomlin or most Hillsong (sing it, Darlene!)
How did you end up working at the Q?
They had an opening that fit all my prior 20 years of work experience perfectly. God is so funny that way.like our whole lives are just "training" for what He really wants us to do.
Favorite Bible Passage:
A tie between Romans 8:18-39 and Philippians.
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding ring, and after that it would be my official LOTR replica of Eowyn's sword-it reminds me to be the strong, brave warrior princess God designed me as.
My prayer for Q-90:
That we see things through God's eyes and know that all things are possible through Him.
If you could add or change one thing to the Green Bay area, what would it be?
A Cracker Barrel restaurant-LOVE their green beans.
Who did you want to be like when you were growing up?
My mom, then I wanted to be an archaeologist in Troy or ancient Rome. I ended up in insurance marketing, inadvertently following in my father's footsteps.
What was the last book you read, and when did you read it?
My husband's book "Intimacy with God"-and if you know Mike, you realize what a miracle from God that book is!
If you could ask one question, what would it be, and how would you answer it?
Q: Are there animals in heaven? A: In Revelations 19:11, Jesus returns riding a white horse out of heaven.duh! (and THANK YOU Pastor Wells for pointing that out to me!)
If you could spend a whole day with somebody famous, who would it be and why?
Would LOVE to have long discussions on Christianity with C.S. Lewis. As for the living, I'd love to spend the day shopping with Joyce Meyer.
What's your favorite candy and soda?
Rosanna Fiorazo got me addicted to Coffee Crisp bars, also love Hot Tamales. Can't do the soda thing anymore (a plumbing issue.don't ask), but I go through the Internat'l Delight Fat Free French Vanilla Creamer in my coffee by the half-gallon carton (when I can find it).
