Statement from Lakeshore Communications, Inc. Board of Directors: Voting for Leaders Who Uphold Biblical Principles

June 10, 2024

At Lakeshore Communications, Inc. we firmly believe in the importance of Christian civic engagement, particularly in the realm of voting for leaders who align with biblical principles. While we acknowledge God’s ultimate sovereignty, we also recognize our responsibility to participate actively in shaping our governance.

Drawing from biblical teachings, it is evident that Christians are called to pray for and support leaders who uphold righteousness (1 Timothy 2:1-4). The Scriptures caution against the consequences of godless leadership (Hosea 8:4; Proverbs 28:12), emphasizing the importance of selecting leaders who honor God’s commands (1 Samuel 12:13-25; Proverbs 14:34). Furthermore, we are instructed to obey legitimate authority, provided it does not contradict divine mandates (Acts 5:27-29; Romans 13:1-7).

In countries where Christians face oppression and persecution, the act of voting holds even greater significance. While many believers worldwide endure persecution for their faith, we in the United States are privileged with the right to choose our leaders without fear. However, it is disheartening to note that a significant portion of self-professed Christians abstain from exercising this right, either by not voting or by not registering to vote.

In today’s society, there are concerted efforts to marginalize the influence of Christianity in public discourse. By abstaining from voting, we risk allowing those who oppose Christian values to shape our government and erode our freedoms. Our elected leaders hold the power to either protect or restrict our rights, including the freedom to practice our faith and spread the gospel.

As Christians, we are called to be active participants in society, fulfilling our civic duties in accordance with biblical principles (Matthew 22:21). Therefore, we encourage all members of our community to prayerfully consider their role in promoting godly governance through informed and conscientious voting.

Let us not take for granted the freedoms we have been granted, but rather let us steward them wisely for the glory of God and the flourishing of our society.
